The release date
The game launched on September 8, 2026 across all platforms simultaneously — PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. There was no staggered console rollout and no region-by-region ladder beyond the single global unlock moment.
It was developed by IllFonic and published by IllFonic with Gun Interactive, based on the 1978 film and made in collaboration with John Carpenter and producer Malek Akkad.
Simultaneous unlock across four storefronts also matters for matchmaking: because crossplay is supported at launch, everyone entered the same pool at the same time.
Unlock times by region
The official post puts the unlock at 9:00 AM PT on September 8. GameRant published a regional table based on a 10:00 AM PT / 17:00 UTC unlock, which is one hour later than the official wording.
Where they disagree, treat the official announcement as the primary source and the press table as a rough guide to how the hour translates around the world.
For reference, the widely circulated conversions were: 12:00 PM CT in Chicago, 1:00 PM ET in New York, 6:00 PM BST in London, 7:00 PM CEST in Paris, 9:00 PM GST in Dubai, and 2:00 AM JST in Tokyo and 3:00 AM AEST in Sydney on September 9.
The four-day head start
Digital Deluxe Edition buyers played from Friday, September 4, 2026 at 9:00 AM PT — a four-day Advance Access window ahead of the standard release.
The PlayStation Store listing reflects that directly: the Deluxe Edition shows a September 4 playable date, with Standard at $39.99 and Deluxe at $59.99.
Progress earned during that window carried into the full launch, and buying Deluxe during the window still granted all pre-order bonuses.
Two regions where the answer is different
The game is banned in Australia, so there is no legitimate local release date there at all. That is a classification outcome rather than a delay, which means there is no announced date to wait for.
In Japan, the PS5 release was cancelled. Japanese players on other platforms are unaffected, but the PlayStation version is not coming.
Anyone searching from those two regions needs that answer up front rather than a global date that does not apply to them.
The physical release is a separate date
Disc editions did not arrive alongside the digital launch. Physical editions release on October 6, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X — roughly four weeks after the digital version.
Physical Standard is $39.99 and includes an exclusive 11x17 poster plus Advance Access to the Michael Myers Clown skin and civilian cosmetics. A limited Collector's Edition runs $149.99.
If you are waiting for a disc, September 8 is not your date; October 6 is.
What launch day actually looked like
The simultaneous unlock concentrated the entire audience into one moment, and the numbers reflect it: Steam recorded an all-time concurrent peak of 33,639 on release day with roughly 18,990 players in game at capture time.
The official site reported the player base passing 500,000 across all platforms during launch, and the game reached the top of Steam's top-sellers list.
It was not a clean launch, however. Players reported Backend Authentication failures, long login queues and Lost Connection to Host errors, and a 1.0.1 hotfix arrived shortly after Advance Access opened.
What was actually in the game at release
The official launch post lists the day-one package: a single-player story mode played as Michael Myers, 1v4 multiplayer as Michael or ten civilian characters, four multiplayer maps, hundreds of cosmetics and the perk card customization system.
The four maps are Haddonfield Town Center, Haddonfield Heights, Orange Grove Estates and East Haddonfield. Wikipedia lists only three and omits East Haddonfield, so the official post is the more reliable count.
Crossplay was live from day one across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, which is why the shared unlock time mattered for anyone planning to play with friends on other systems.
What comes after the release date
The next dated milestone is the physical release on October 6, 2026, covering the $39.99 disc Standard and the limited $149.99 Collector's Edition on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Beyond that, no content roadmap dates have been confirmed here. Patch notes and any future content timing are published first on the official site and the official Discord server.
For live-service questions — player counts, patch cadence, server status — check a timestamped source rather than an undated article, since all of those figures move quickly.

The road to September 8
Haddonfield Heights was revealed in December 2025, a multiplayer overview followed in March 2026, and Haddonfield Town Center and Orange Grove Estates were shown in June and July 2026.
A single-player campaign trailer debuted at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase on June 6, 2026, and a playable build appeared on the PAX East show floor.
The launch trailer arrived in early September, immediately ahead of Advance Access on September 4 and the full release four days later.
